The King of Fruit

The king of fruit for me, would have to be the fig. There is nothing more luscious. And today I picked the last of the peaches on my peach tree and picked the first half dozen figs from my fig tree. How divine. And I don't want to share them with anyone.

Meany.

Is that your photo? of your figs? Very jealous. You can't get a good peach this year. Our fig tree is very young and only about 5 foot high but has a first crop of about 14. Still small though. Can't wait to try them. I also think they are wonderful. King for me though is probably a perfectly ripe nectarine. I've never had one as good as those I used to pick from our backyard tree in my first home in Adelaide.

Yes it is my photo - what is amazing is that I held off long enough to take said photo!

A perfectly ripe nectarine comes in at a close second for me. Then I think those big fat black ripe cherries.

My fig tree is only about 5 years old, and last year was the first year I had fruit (I got about 1 dozen). My tree has not grown very tall (which is probably a good thing given my height).
