The B&B was about 27ks south of Sligo, so I had to make my way up through Sligo again. At one stage I was on a dual carriageway and was wondering where all the cars were. As I neared closer to the town it dawned on me that it was Sunday again. When I got into town, everything was shut, there was nothing to do so I drove on.
The landscape north of Sligo was simply lovely (no surprises there), and there was a sign to a waterfall so I drove 4ks towards that. Once I got there though, it was a 7k hike to go to the waterfall. There were about 50 other people preparing to head off, all of them in full-on hiking gear. I felt under-equiped, and definitely wasn't wearing the right clothes so I didn't walk to the Waterfall. Shame, it would have been nice I'm sure.
This photo is of the waterfall, but taken from the car after I'd driven on for a bit:
From there I thought I would stop at Enniskillen (now in Northern Ireland), but again, nothing was open so I just drove on to Omagh. When I got here I stopped at the McDonalds to grab a salad, they didn't have that so I had a grilled chicken wrap which actually was quite nice. While I was there I asked for directions to the hotel, and the young lad wrote down half a page of instructions for me! So nice!
At the hotel they said that I needed to have booked ahead in order to get the Discover Ireland rate. This is the first place that have this process so I was a bit stuck. They said I could call them and book, but when I rang they were closed. Another staff member though overheard the conversation I had with the staff as I said I'm sure I could book online, and this lady said I could use her computer. I had to go upstairs to her office. I was able to book it ok, but seemed like a pretty weird process to me.
It had rained on and off all morning, and by now it was raining heavily, by the time the staff sorted a room for me, it was 2.30 and I could go in. After half an hour the rain subsided so I went for a short walk, then a drive around, but again, nothing was open. I hadn't slept well last night (hence the sleep-in this morning), so I went back to my room and fell asleep for an hour.
I plan on doing nothing else for the rest of the day/night too!
